Unlike traditional shoemaking workshops that rely on pre-manufactured soles, this immersive 2-day experience teaches you how to create, shape and finish a professional shoe sole from high-quality resin sole sheeting. This is an essential skill for shoemakers and designers who want greater creative freedom or don't always have access to commercially produced soles.
Throughout the workshop you'll learn every stage of professional loafer construction. From cutting your leather and customising your design to lasting, moulding and assembling your shoes, you'll experience the traditional craftsmanship behind luxury footwear.
Students will also learn how to install thermoplastic toe puffs and heel counters (backers), creating the structure and support found in professionally manufactured footwear. You'll then handcraft your own sole, shape the heel, sand and finish it before completing your bespoke pair of loafers.
