Cape Town Shoemaking Workshops at Woodheads
Make Your Own Shoes | Beginner Friendly | Limited to 6 Students per Class
From 23–25 March, Style Architects brings its signature hands-on shoemaking workshops to Cape Town, hosted at Woodheads. These full-day workshops are designed for beginners, leather crafters, creatives, and aspiring footwear entrepreneurs who want to learn how to make shoes properly — from structure to sole.
Each class is limited to just 6 students, ensuring personal attention, professional guidance, and a high-quality learning experience.
Whether you’re looking to upskill your leathercraft, expand your product range, or simply experience the art of shoemaking, this workshop gives you the foundation and confidence to start.
Choose the Shoe You Want to Make
On this product page, you can select both your preferred shoe style and your workshop date.
We will be teaching the following styles:
Leather Vellies – A timeless South African classic, ideal for everyday wear and an excellent introduction to structured footwear.
Birkenstock-Style Sandals – Comfortable, on-trend cork sandals with leather uppers, perfect for casual and retail-ready ranges.
Leather Pumps – A feminine, structured design that introduces lasting, shaping, and professional finishing techniques.
Leather Loafers – Our newest addition launching May 2026. A refined, versatile style ideal for brands wanting to add a polished staple to their range.
Leather Sneakers – A modern essential. Learn how to construct a leather sneaker with proper structure, sole attachment, and finishing.
All styles are designed to teach real shoemaking techniques that you can apply again at home or in your business.
What You’ll Learn
During this full-day Cape Town shoemaking workshop, you will learn:
How to mould and shape a leather upper onto a shoe last
How to construct and attach a sole correctly
How to work with stiffeners and structural components
Professional finishing techniques
The correct tools and materials needed for shoemaking
Where to source leather, soles, and components
We prepare some of the technical pre-cutting and sewing to ensure the workshop runs smoothly — however, we demonstrate and explain every step in detail so you understand the full construction process and can repeat it independently.
The focus is on teaching you the real principles of shoemaking, not just assembling a shoe.
What’s Included
A complete pair of shoes made in your size
All materials and components
Patterns in multiple sizes
A comprehensive supplier list
Access to additional online learning support
Ongoing assistance after the workshop if you need guidance
You will leave with both a finished pair of shoes and the confidence to create more.
